Manager Support: Maureen Ragsdale
CHWC is using the facilities at St. Mary Academy in Inglewood as our
"home base of operations" and the showers at Bishop Conaty/Our Lady of
Lorestto and Verbum Dei High
School.
SCHOOL FACTS
St. Mary’s Academy is an all girl Catholic high school.
The school is located in
Inglewood
which is a city in southwestern
Los Angeles County, California,
southwest of downtown
Los Angeles. The city is in the
South Bay region of the
greater Los Angeles area.
The school has
some air conditioned sections, but at this time of year in
the LA area a/c is not a concern or needed.
In June the temperature is usually 60-70 degrees.
Sleeping will
be in the classrooms.
Dining is
different at LA schools, it is outside.
The cafeteria is inside and the tables and chairs are
outside under cover.
The school is
undergoing construction updates and most will be completed
before we arrive. Unfortunately
the showers will not be available to us this summer due to
the construction.
We will be showering offsite at 2 other Catholic High
Schools, and it will be determined which shower location you
will use depending on your work location.
Everyone should bring a backpack which you will use
to tote shower needs and change of clothes for showering
after the work site.
The motto of
St. Mary’s is Learn, Live, Love and Serve.
This motto fits in perfectly with the CHWC mission.
WORKSITE INFORMATION
We will be
working with food and clothing distribution centers, in
addition to helping at homeless shelters.
We will be working at low income day care centers.
In addition we are working with agencies that help
the elderly and lower income paint, clean and do minor home
repairs.
