SCHOOL FACTS
Showers - There are showers on-site. Gentlemen shower in a
large communal shower, while the ladies locker room does have separate
stalls.
Program Area - Program is held in the school gymnasium,
which is not air-conditioned.
Sleeping Arrangements - Campers sleep in classrooms on
both the first and second floors of the school. The rooms are not
air-conditioned, but this shouldn't be an issue as Chicago is usually
not very hot this early in June! In fact, you may want to plan for some
chilly nights.
WORKSITE INFORMATION
Many of the worksites for CHWC Chicago are at social agencies, such as
homeless shelters, youth centers, etc. At these sites, the work varies
widely and may include tasks such as cleaning, sorting donations,
visiting with residents/clients, painting, yard work, etc. There will
also be many groups working in the homes of the elderly, usually
cleaning and painting several rooms.
